STEAM Engagement Team
Team members wanted for new, collaborative program development team at the Maryland Science Center. Are you creative, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment? Positions are full-time, salaried with benefits.
Maryland Science Center is developing a new team based approach to creating programming and on-floor experiences for visitors that is participatory and engaging. Participate in all aspects of program creation including, research, prototyping, and development of training materials. Staff will also be responsible for working with various programs to train staff in implementation of programs and activities. Majority of training will take place through modeling on the museum floor. Applicants must be comfortable with on-floor interactions with visitors and some supervisory duties.
Two full-time positions available:
One position is Sunday-Thursday and the other position is Tuesday through Saturday. Weekend coverage is non-negotiable.

Duties
Research and development of new programming and on-floor experiences:
Actively participate in the research and development of new on-floor programs and experiences, individually or as part of a team. Maintain records and documentation as required by grant parameters. Assist in developing programming that may include prototyping, informal and formal presentations
Project Management:
Work to understand scope of a project, gather team to complete project, work to advance timeline efficiently, and communicate details to interested parties.
Training and evaluation:
Work with part time and full time staff to learn new science content to be utilized in programming and on-floor experiences. Evaluate current programs and new initiatives.
On-floor engagement with museum visitors
Provide museum visitors with engaging on-floor experiences and serve as a model for part-time staff.
Supervision and management:
Assists with duties pertaining to the direct supervision of full-time, part-time, and volunteer staff and assists in the regular evaluation of staff performance of demonstrations and explainer materials.
Other Duties as Assigned:
Renders assistance as deemed necessary.
Requirements
- 2-3 years presenting in an informal educational setting; experience in program creation and supervision preferred.
- Bachelor's degree required with emphasis in science, education or social sciences preferred
